Book Title: Take Two

Author: Laurelin Paige
Release Date: February 4, 2014
Publisher: Samhain Publishing
Summary: He’s ready for his close up, but she’s the one calling the shots.

On the night of her graduation from film school, straight-laced Maddie Bauers fell completely out of character for an oh-my-god make-out session with a perfect stranger. Complete with the big O.

Seven years later, that romantic interlude is still fresh in her mind. That stranger is now a rich and famous actor. And she’s one very distracted camera assistant working on his latest production. She might consider another tryst…if he even remembers her.

Micah Preston does indeed remember Maddie. Too bad he’s sworn off Hollywood relationships. He allows himself as much sex as he likes—and oh, he does like—but anything more is asking for trouble. For the woman, not for him. Yet knowing Maddie could want more than a movie-set fling doesn’t stop him from pursuing her like a moth drawn to hot stage lights.

But as the shoot nears its end, it’s decision time. Is it time to call, “Cut!” on their affair, or is there enough material for a sequel?

Warning: Contains a dreamy movie star hero, a focus-pulling heroine, off-the-charts instant chemistry, steamy sex in near-public locations, and a new use for lip gloss.

About Laurelin: Laurelin Paige is the NY Times and USA Today Bestselling Author of the Fixed Trilogy. She’s a sucker for a good romance and gets giddy anytime there’s kissing, much to the embarrassment of her three daughters. Her husband doesn’t seem to complain, however. When she isn’t reading or writing sexy stories, she’s probably singing, watching Mad Men and the Walking Dead, or dreaming of Adam Levine.

Review:

There are many book out that feature your classic girl meets famous actor, famous actor falls in love with girl. However, not many of those girls are strong independent women that stand up for themselves. This is my first time reading Laurelin Paige, and if she keeps writing stories like “Take Two” I will keep reading them. Although, on the outside “Take Two” might seem like your typical hollywood romance there are slight changes that keep the story fresh and new. With a strong female lead, a sexy actor and a lot of chemistry what is there not to love.

The story starts of in Maddie Bauers point of view, she is at a party on her college graduation night. She is focused and career oriented. A chance meeting and a strong chemistry with a boy name Micah lead her to drop her inhibitions and throw caution to the wind for a moment. Although, nothing comes of it, this meeting does leave a lasting impression. Cut to seven years later. Micah is now a famous actor and Maddie is a camera assistant and they meet again working on the same film.

What I loved about Maddie, is that she never lets Micah’s celebrity be a reason in her action towards him. His celebrity doesn’t affect her and she is not afraid to value herself and tell him no. She has a lot of chemistry with Micah but she does not allow herself to just give into that chemistry and become another just another mindless woman in his bed. I love how she takes pride in her work, and is career oriented. Micah, on the one hand is charming and dedicated to his job. However he is also stubborn and set in his ways of thinking about relationships. There is nice character growth throughout the story. It is also fun how Laurelin Paige makes indirect references to Hollywood greats.

I really enjoyed this read. If you are wanting a good time I would recommend “Take Two”.
