There are stories that touch you down to the core of your soul and “Maybe Someday” by Colleen Hoover does just that. If you have ever read any of Colleen Hoover’s other works you know that she is the master of bringing out emotions. She knows how to hit your heart with just a few simple words. Every single page of “Maybe Someday” took me deeper into world that is not black and white but a world filled with grey’s where the possibility of maybe someday always lingers.

What I love about “Maybe Someday” was the grey’s. There was no good guy or bad guy, there were just situations. Situations that Colleen Hoover, being the master that she is, navigated her two main characters Sydney and Ridge through with such care. That when you get to the word on the last page you feel like you can finally release your breath.

This book is like no other because of the way that music is incorporated throughout the story. Music is it own character. It is the way Sydney and Ridge communicate. It’s the way feeling are expressed, where the beat of their hearts become more pronounced. Colleen Hoover does an amazing job of incorporating real music into this book. I would recommend listening to songs while you read because it takes your reading experience to another level. The moment you hear the song it is like you become the character, for a moment you become Sydney listening to song for the first time. It is magical. It is a bonus that all the original music is good. Griffin Peterson does a really great job with the arrangements of the music. He also sounds amazing.

“….there are infinite ways those twenty-six letters can make a person feel, and this song is living proof. I’ll never understand how a few simple words strung together can change a person, but this song, these words, are completely changing me. “

This book has changed me. My expectations of what a reading experience can be have changed. “Maybe Someday” is another enriching read by Colleen Hoover, and I would recommend that you check it out.
