The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 1,400 times in 2014. If it were a cable car, it would take about 23 trips to carry that many people.

The Rocker Who Shatters Me by Terri Anne Browning

Oh Terri Ann Browning,  what your books do for me, wow. This book was everything you could expect in another installment in this Rocker series. Favorite characters are back as we delve into the story of Devlin and Natalie.

Devlin is a drummer, father, and in love with Natalie.  However, he hasn’t always made the best of decisions. So, how does he win back the girl he is in love with after hurting her so badly.  This is a story about fighting for what you want. It’s about a passion the takes hold of the soul and drives you mad with desire. This book does not disappoint in the steamy department.

If you love the rocker series this book will not disappoint. Another great read by Terri Anne Browning.

Book Review: What’s Left Of Us by Amanda Maxlyn

, ,

Blurb: The heartwarming conclusion to What’s Left of Me.

Love found me three years ago.

I’m cancer free, happily married to the love of my life, and working toward my dream career.

Our life is complete. Perfect, really.

Or is it?

I’ve always wanted a family of my own, but never dreamed I could have one. Now Parker’s ready to make my dream our reality.

But sometimes our dreams are haunted by our deepest fears. Fears of failure, having a child, and in our case … death. How do I help the person I love get over his fear when I’m still trying to overcome that same fear myself?

Together we must learn What’s Left of Us.

” Fear. It’s all around us. It finds a way inside, lodging deep within, refusing to surrender. It latches on, following you on this path called life.” What’s Left of Us by Amanda Maxlyn is about overcoming your fears. What’s Left of Me, was one of the best books I read this year and the sequel was no different. This book made me cry, it made me smile, it took me through an emotional journey that I am not soon to forget.

This sequel finds Aundrea and Parker in a new place in their lives. A few years have passed since the end of What’s Left of Me. This book is all about that what now. How do you move on with your life when the reality of the what if stares you in the face. It is about seizing moments and living each day. Amanda Maxlyn has a great way of writing these scenes that, as a reader makes you feel like you are one with characters. Their joy is your joy, their pain is your pain. So through the entire book you are also going through this emotional journey with these characters who are simply wonderful,

This book was a pure joy to read. My love for Parker only grew stronger if that was even possible. It was great to see what it means to be a “survivor”  to Aundrea. Nothing in the book felt fake or contrived. It was just another great read by Amanda Maxlyn. Lets also not forget the sexy time. There were some really great sexy time moments in this book. So if you are looking for a good read let me recommend these two books What’s Left of Me, and What’s Left of Us, they will not disappoint.

Desert Bound by Elizabeth Hunter

Can you turn the clock back on your first love? Would you even want to try?

Alex McCann and Teodora “Ted” Vasquez left Cambio Springs together. Ted came back. Alex didn’t.

Now, years later, the future alpha of the McCann wolves has returned with plans to bring new life to the dying desert community. Plans that could change everything for the isolated enclave of shapeshifters in the California desert. Some love the plan. Others hate it.

As the town’s doctor and one of the strongest daughters in the cat clan, Ted has her own concerns about exposing her community to outsiders. The two former lovers are at each other’s throats. And everyone is watching to see what happens.

But when murder once again strikes Cambio Springs, can they overcome their past to help the community they both call home? And can the love they shared once burn again when so many stand against it?

DESERT BOUND is an adult paranormal romance in the Cambio Springs Mysteries series.

I love Elizabeth Hunter. I love Elizabeth Hunter’s writing. There has yet to be a book that I have not completely fallen in love with. “Desert Bound” the second book in the Cambio Springs Series is no exception.

“Desert Bound” focuses on Ted and Alex. If you are familiar with earlier books in this series these two characters should ring a bell. If you have not read the other books, it is not necessary, however, why would you not want to read amazingness. Ted and Alex have history, they are both strong willed and in a community where family and lineage matter, these two could be considered a type of royalty. These two are like fire and ice, constantly pushing and pulling. However, that is what makes them so great. They thrive of their differences and strong personalities.

This book has plenty of romance, however if you want a little more substance than just your typical romance then definitely check “Desert Bound” out. There is murder mystery the sets the stage for Ted and Alex romance to really flourish. If you like the twilight series, and had a thing for werewolves, this book might not have vampires, but the writing is ten times better and it will pull you in. There is also really nice continuity so story lines from the past books in the series. So if you had favorite characters, they do pop-up again.

Overall, I would recommend this book to everyone. Even if paranormal romance is not your thing, check out Elizabeth Hunters writing, you will not be disappointed.

Priceless (Rothvale Legacy #1) by Raine Miller

, , , , , ,

Blurb: Ivan Everley, 13th Baron Rothvale, will tell you himself he’s the LAST person on earth who should have custody over a priceless collection of art, but since when does the irony of life ever fall in line with what somebody wants? Ivan might be a Lord according to British law, but he’s just a regular guy with an appetite for speed…and women…and some dominating kink in the bedroom. Yeah, just a regular guy who happens have Olympic gold medals stashed away in his house. Riiiight. His public profile is merely a sham–his private life a carefully guarded secret borne out of the pain of betrayal. Even his famous cousin, Ethan Blackstone, doesn’t know the whole story about the man he considers a brother.

Lord Ivan has a plethora of problems piled up to his aristocratic eyeballs–that only get more complicated when a beautiful art conservationist shows up to appraise his inherited collection of paintings–but that doesn’t stop him from digging himself in deeper. Nope, not a bit. Once Ivan gets a taste of Gabrielle Hargreave, mistaken identity or not, he can’t think of anything else but how perfect she felt in his arms the night he first laid his eyes on her.

He wants her, and what Ivan wants, Ivan gets. He is Lord Ivan after all. Gabrielle soon discovers that the Dom in him isn’t taking ‘no’ for an answer. Yet, Gabrielle Hargreave might just teach our discontented lord a thing or two about life, and about himself, and help them both discover the undeniable truth in what it means to find something genuinely…priceless.

Oh Raine Miller, do you know how to write one sexy story. If you are a fan of the Blackstone Affair Series, then the Rothvale Legacy Series should be on your reading list because if you are familiar with the Blackstone Affair than you will be familiar with the two lead characters in this story. This spin-of series is just as steamy as the Blackstone Affair and you will end up loving Lord Ivan Everley and Gabrielle Hargreave, if you don’t already.

This story, if one of mistaken identity, is a faithful meeting and an attraction that too hard to deny. This book oozes sex, and it leaves you wanting for more. This is the first book in a series, so it does a nice job of asking questions that leave you wanting you wanting to read the rest of the series. This is a nice set up book.

What I love about Raine Millers writing is that she has this great way of creating a mystery around her characters. She unveils clues slowly and deliberately. There is also always so much chemistry between her characters. You can’t help but want them to overcome everything so they can end up together.

I can’t wait to get the next installment for these two. If you are want a quick read with a novella that will leave you wanting for more. Than I highly suggest reading Priceless. This is a great start to a brand new series.

One More Chance (Rosemary Beach #8) by Abbi Glines

, , , , , , ,

Blurb: Grant Carter did everything in his power to convince Harlow Manning that he was a good guy. More than a smooth-talker and someone she could trust. He had to overcome his reputation as a playboy, and his history with Harlow’s half-sister, Nan, a woman with a reputation of her own.

Harlow had taken the chance, falling hard and fast for the guy who thrilled her with his all-consuming desire. After a lifetime of avoiding bad boys like Grant, she had opened herself to the possibilities of love…

But a life-changing secret has torn them apart, and now Grant and Harlow must decide if they have enough fight to make it work – or if the pain of betrayal has permanently destroyed their future.

Of all the books that Abbi Glines has written none of her character have captured my heart the way Grant and Harlow have. In “One more Chance” we have the riveting conclusion to “Take a Chance” the first book “Chance” series, or what I like to consider a sub-series, in the the Rosemary Beach world. “One more Chance” starts off a few weeks after “Take a Chance” ends, so if you haven’t read the first book I would highly recommend it.

What I love about Grant and Harlow is that they are fighters. They might be scared about the curve balls that life has thrown at them but they find ways to get through it together. Their love for each other is never called into question. Abbi Glines has created these two characters who are amazing on their own, but with each other they are magical.

This book will touch your heart strings in ways that you didn’t know was possible. Be sure to have a box of tissues handy just in case, because some tears might be spilled. There were times when I was reading that I was left breathless. If you are a fan of the series, rest assured that all your favorite characters make appearances again and that there are a few surprises with maybe a peak of what you might expect in future books in this series.

This was another great read by Abbi Glines, and it will not disappoint.

Reasonable Doubt 3 by Whitney Garcia Williams

, ,

I hate him…

I hate that I fell in love with him, I hate that he didn’t love me back, and I hate the fact that I just made a life-altering decision just so I could get the hell away from him.

He’d always said that he was unchangeable, heartless, and cold…

I really should’ve believed him…

**Final book in the Reasonable Doubt series…**

Hello readers. Sorry for the long break between blog posts, it has been a busy summer. However, even through this busy summer I had to set everything aside to read “Reasonable Doubt 3” by Whitney Garcia Williams. There is not enough praise that I can grant to this series. It has gripped me from the first book and has not let go since. This tale about a lawyer and a ballerina left me breathless, and on the edge of my seat and “Reasonable Doubt 3” is the perfect end to this trilogy.

The third book starts of soon after the end of the second. Andrew and Aubrey are not in the greatest place. They have issues that they need to work through, and it is beautiful how Whitney takes these two characters to a better place. Aubrey is better than ever. I love how strong she is, and how she stands for what she believes in. She doesn’t allow herself to be walked all over. She demands respect, and I can honestly can say how many 22 year olds would demand more from a man like Andrew. Demand that he treat her better, that he open up to her, and be willing to walk away if he doesn’t deliver.

I can not emphasis  enough how you must read the first two installments before reading the third. All the answers that you had in the previous two books will be answer in a satisfying manner. I can’t praise Whitney Garcia Williams enough. She just keeps getting better and better. Another great read by this author.

Body Games (Games #5) by Jessica Clare

, , ,

Blurb: Annabelle Tucker is still reeling from last season’s Endurance Island, when the man she loved played her for a fool. When producers ask her back for a new season it’s the last thing she’s interested in…until she hears her ex, the gorgeous but duplicitous Kip, will be there. Revenge and a grand prize? Yes, please!

But someone’s there to throw a kink into her plans. Someone tall and cut, and with the sexiest gray eyes. Jendan Abercrombie’s on an opposing team, but it doesn’t mean that Annabelle can’t lust after him, right? She’ll just have to save all that lusting for post-show, when she’s free to follow where her loins lead.

When a tribal twist puts them both on the same team – naked – will Annabelle be able to resist his very apparent charms? Or will she have to vote Jendan out to save her game?

If you love reality TV shows like The Bachelor and Survivor than this is the book for you. A perfect blend of some of the best reality TV shows in the air right now, “Body Games” by Jessica Clare is a fun read that you won’t be able to put down. This is the 5th book in the Games series, however you do not need to read the previous books in the series to figure out what is happening in this book.

The plot begins by introducing Annabelle, a previous contestant on Endurance Island whose portrayal on the show left her the laughing stalk of the show. She is looking for redemption and revenge on her love interest from the previous season. Annabelle is an interesting character, a little naive, trying to navigate her away around the show, at first introduction she does not seem like the smartest  person. However, as the book progresses her character really grows and becomes smarter, stronger, and learns how to play the game.

Her love interest is Jendan, another contestant on the show. I wish that there had been more romantic scenes with them. The book tried to divide itself between this building romance and Annabelle playing the game, and I felt that sometimes their romance was set to the side.

Overall, this was a fun, light read. Jessica Clare did a great job of creating this really fun setting. Some of things these characters have to do were crazy. It was also a nice peek into the world of reality TV. So if you want a nice weekend read ” Body Games” is the book for you.

Yanked (Frenched #1.5) by Melanie Harlow

, , ,

Blurb: Mia Devine fell hard for Lucas Fournier after their magical week in Paris. But eight months later, the free-spirited half-French musician still hasn’t made any promises about their future. And as magnifique as long-distance phone sex is, nothing compares to the real thing. Fed up with stolen weekends and lonely nights, Mia flies to New York armed with a list of reasons why they should take the next step, but an unexpected guest in Lucas’s apartment derails her plans. He’s been keeping secrets–worse, he claims he’s happy with the way things are. Without the magic of Paris, can their mismatched love survive?

Review: Oh Lucas and Mia, how I had missed you. If anyone here has read my blog for a while you will know that I loved “Frenched” by Melanie Harlow. I love the location setting and romance and the sexiness of that book. Melanie Harlow sure nows how to write sexy, sexy scenes. “Frenched” ended in a good place for the characters, so had Melanie Harlow decided to leave these two characters it would have been fine. However, how glad I am that she didn’t. Yanked, is a quick read, letting the readers know what happened to Mia and Lucas after Paris. It is a story about opening up and putting yourself out there. Don’t worry, the sexiness that was in the first book is also present in this book. Lucas and Mia, just get better and better. I love their characters and I did see some personal growth with both of them even if this is a novella. In addition, we also got to see a little bit more of Mia and Lucas’s friends. I love secondary characters that can one day have a spin-off. What can I say other than I just can’t get enough. This was another great read by Melanie Harlow. If you have read “French” you are going to enjoy “Yanked” and if you haven’t read “Frenched” yet, go and read it and then read “Yanked” so you can see for yourself how amazing it is.

21 Years of Jane by Yolanda Olson

, ,

Blurb: Paris, OH is a quiet town. Jane East thinks it’s the perfect place, since she’s been a loner most of her life. But when a new family moves near by and her parents insist she becomes friends with the new guy in town, things get turned upside down in ways she never thought possible.

Review: This was a really sweet story that took a different approach to your typical romance story. If you are looking for steamy romance scenes and nights full of passion this is not the book for you. However, if you are looking to read a story about the lengths that love goes then I would recommend reading “21 Years of Jane” by Yolanda Olson.

This is the story of Jane East, a young woman who has had to deal with health problems most of her life and the people around her that love her. I thought Jane was a lovely character. She was strong, caring, and loving. She was a character who focused on love and the good surrounding her, instead of the hand she been dealt. If I was in Jane’s situation I would have been a hot mess. I don’t want to give too much away, but you will be touched by Jane’s story. This book had great supporting characters. From Nolan Ransom, her love interest in the story, to her brother and sister. This is a book about not only Jane’s journey, but how her journey affects those around her. This book makes you feel hopeful. That even if you are faced with hardships you can focus on love and can get through it.

My only critique about the book is that I wanted to read more. I love Nolan and Jane’s relationship,  but I think more scenes where they interacted would have made their love even stronger. Although, I believed in their love, it still felt rushed. One day they were friends and the next day they were in love. Yolanda Olson did a lovely job overall with this story. It is a departure from some of her other works I have read, however I really enjoyed reading it. I would recommend this book if you are looking for something different then your typical romance story, or if you are looking for a book that makes you put your faith back in humanity. It was a lovely read. star-four-11.jpg
